Update: Helicopter Helps Fire Crews Battle Lake Elsinore Blaze

The fire burned about five acres near Canyon Lake on Saturday afternoon. No damage or injuries were reported.

Kids playing with fireworks started a wildfire Saturday afternoon just south of Canyon Lake, burning about 20 acres of light brush and heavy trees, according to Cal Fire. No structures were threatened by the fire, which was contained at 4:30 p.m. No injuries have been reported by Cal Fire. The fire was reported just after 1 p.m., and nine engine companies and a water-dropping helicopter responded. The helicopter scooped water from Canyon Lake and dropped it on the fire burning in the Tuscany Hills area. Fire crews are expected to be on the scene through the night mopping up hot spots, according to Cal Fire.
