Drivers Suspected Of Being High On Ecstasy And Alcohol Arrested

Ming Lei, 33, and David Travers, 55, were both arrested early this morning in separate DUI incidents.

Deputies from the Lake Elsinore Police Department made two separate early morning arrests Monday near the Riverside Drive/Grand Avenue area involving suspected drugged and drunken drivers.

The first arrest came shortly after midnight when deputies spotted a silver Mercedes “driving erratically in the area of Riverside Drive and Grand Avenue” in Lake Elsinore, according to a police report.

“Officers determined the driver was under the influence of illegal drugs. Further investigation revealed the driver was in possession of methamphetamines and Ecstasy,” the report stated.

Unlike the earlier arrest, the driver attempted to flee from the deputy, the report stated.

A low-speed pursuit ensued, which continued onto Grand Avenue and ended in the 32900 block of Cedar Drive in Lakeland Village when the driver, David Travers, 55, stopped in his driveway and surrendered, the report stated.

“Officers determined Travers was under the influence of alcohol. Further investigation revealed he did not have permission to be driving the Honda. Additionally, Travers has several previous convictions for driving under the influence,” according to the report.

Travers was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, evading a peace officer and vehicle theft. He was booked into the Southwest Detention Center.
