DUI Checkpoint Scheduled In Lake Elsinore

"A DUI checkpoint is a proven-effective method to lower these numbers. Additionally, drivers will be checked to ensure that they have a valid driver's license,” said Sgt. Marc Cloutier of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The Lake Elsinore Police Department Traffic Unit will be conducting a DUI/Driver's License checkpoint Saturday at an undisclosed time and location within the city limits.

“Alcohol impaired deaths still make up the largest category of overall vehicle fatalities, with 31 percent of all deaths caused by a drunk driver. A DUI checkpoint is a proven-effective method to lower these numbers. Additionally, drivers will be checked to ensure that they have a valid driver's license,” said Sgt. Marc Cloutier of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

“The Department is continuing its ongoing campaign to reduce the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol involved crashes. DUI checkpoints are conducted to identify offenders and get them off the street, as well as bring awareness to our community of the dangers of impaired driving,” the sergeant said.

Funding for the operation is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Why don't we have fat policeman checkpoints near doughnut shops and fast food places and when a fat Lake Elsinore police officer or Sherrif gets caught within 1000 feet we fine him 10,000 dollars. Hey we would start a campaign and imagine how many law enforcement lives we would be saving. Better yet, lets have a cell phone checkpoint just for law enforcement, every time I pass a cop or sheriff in the Lake Elsinore area their fat bald head is glued to a cell phone which the last time i checked was against the LAW!! Checkpoints are for one thing...to strip you of your Constitutional rights. First it was Dui, then they got away with that so it was seat belts. and they got away with that, so then its drivers license, then insurance, then we are looking for someone, then now we don';t even need a reason to put up a roadblock but we'll give you one anyway and say its for the greater good. A checkpoint just releases law enforcement from having to DO THEIR JOB, and gives them the right for illegal search and seizure..PERIOD. While the extra money gets spent for a checkpoint, the bad guys do extra crimes cuz they know the major part of the crew is at a checkpoint...Great job Lake Elsinore, you have successfully grown into a city of idiots.

Oh, big surprise no comments...Say something that they, Lake Elsinore Police, don't like and don't think these guys aren't looking for you at one of their checkpoints...Just keep not commenting and these people will soon just come walking right on into your house uninvited, slipping their hand up your daughters skirt, and call it a checkpoint. As long as they are just doing it to the other guys and it doesn't involve you you don't much care...That's okay, they will find a way to involve you in the future..They always have, they always will...PULL YOUR HEAD OUT OF THE SAND>>>>
