LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Marna O'Brien Would Vote Yes On Z

If Marna was with us today, she would be out there putting up signs, passing out flyers and telling everyone to vote Yes on Z.

Wildomar residents please vote Yes on Measure Z. Keep Marna O’Brien Park open and reopen the other two Wildomar parks for a cost of $28 per parcel of land.

Marna O’Brien moved to Wildomar in 1975 with her family. She was an outspoken community activist who was involved in all aspects of enhancing Wildomar. She was a 4-H leader, a member of WMAC and the Wildomar Interest League. Marna also spoke on many issues before the Riverside County Board of Supervisors.

She did all of this and more while fighting breast cancer. She fought for flood control, road improvements, and anything else she thought would benefit Wildomar. Her most difficult battle was with cancer; Marna passed away much too young at age 53 in 1989.

If Marna was with us today, of course the park wouldn’t be named after her, but it wouldn’t matter what the name was, because she would be out there putting up signs, passing out flyers and telling everyone to vote Yes on Z.

What city doesn’t have parks with playgrounds, sports fields and walking paths? Not a city Marna O’Brien would want to live in and neither do I. Vote YES on Z!
