Parolee Arrested In Attempted Auto Theft In Lake Elsinore

A man collared in Lake Elsinore whlle allegedly trying to break into an Auto Zone employee's vehicle turned out to be a parolee at large with a warrant out for his arrest, sheriff's officials said.
Ronald Gehnert, of Romoland, was seen allegedly trying to break into a vehicle at the Auto Zone, 30000 Riverside Drive about 2:22 p.m., according to sheriff's officials.
Officers arrived on scene and spotted the suspect on Wisconsin Street, according to sheriff's Sgt. John Kaiser.
He was taken into custody without incident, the segeant said.
Investigators determined that the suspect had taken merchandise from the Auto Zone and that he was on parole for a 2009 domestic violence case.
Gehnert was questioned at the Lake Elsinore substation, then booked into the Southwest Detention Center, where he was booked on suspicion of auto theft, burglary and being a parolee at large, officials said.
There was no booking information available for Gehnert Saturday night.
