Walking And Bicycling To School Getting Safer For Wildomar Kids

The new sidewalks on Grand Avenue from Central Street to South Pasadena Street are part of the Bike/Pedestrian Sidewalk Safety Improvement Project.

Kids who walk or ride their bikes to David A. Brown Middle School or Wildomar Elementary should be a little safer thanks to a grant-funded project that will see 1,350 feet of new sidewalks in the city.

The new sidewalks on Grand Avenue from Central Street to South Pasadena Street are part of the Bike/Pedestrian Sidewalk Safety Improvement Project.

According to documentation provided by Wildomar Public Works Director Tim D’Zmura, an SB 821 grant of $268,030 will pay for 70 percent of the project. Another $114,070 from either a State Safe Routes Grant or Measure A Accessibility Program funding will pay for the remaining 30 percent of the project's cost.

Nearly 200 seniors residing at the Wildomar Senior Assisted Living residential housing community are also expected to benefit from the sidewalks. The facility is located just east of David A. Brown.
