Plan B: One more step in the wrong direction

Standards.  Morals.  Ethics.  Values.

I’m curious, if words are occasionally added to the lexicon of every day language, will these words be stricken from the record any time soon?  Apparently, they don’t mean much anymore.  As of late, it was Jason Collins announcing his homosexuality as a professional athlete, and touted a hero.  Then it was the Pentagon’s alignment with the anti-Christian movement to limit religious freedom in the military.  And now, the FDA declares that accountability is no longer important.  They now want to allow any girl, no matter their age, to purchase the morning after pill, Plan B, without parental consent.

Here is the justification:

“Studies show that emergency contraception is a safe and effective form of birth control that can prevent pregnancy if taken within five days of unprotected sex, and research also shows that teens are as likely as adults to use emergency contraception correctly,…Age barriers to emergency contraception are not supported by science, and they should be eliminated.” ~ Cecile Richards, president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

Speaking at a news conference in Mexico City, where he began a two-day visit on Thursday, Obama said the FDA decision this week was based on “solid scientific evidence.”

“Accidents happen — that’s why we have emergency contraception (also known as the morning-after pill).” ~ Planned Parenthood

Is it me, or are these the most ridiculous excuses to rip morality from societies clutch?  So where does it end?  Is the end result to simply not teach ethical standards and allow our young men and women to do what ever they want?  30 years ago, homosexuality was deplorable.  It was never talked about.  It was not promoted in the media.  Why?  Was the entirety of this nation that intolerant?  Was there an agenda by the “righteous right” to keep it under wraps?  Did the conservatives have absolute rule over society to keep the LGBT quiet?  Of course not.  America had morals.  American society knew there was a difference between right and wrong.  Morals, ethical standards, and the traditional family unit meant something.  Not any more.

You want to talk about traditional family values?  Then keep your mouth shut.  You want to discuss the fact that homosexuality is morally wrong, then do it in your own home and keep it to yourself.  You want to keep your sons and daughters from being sexually promiscuous?  Then move to Lancaster, Pennsylvania.  We are so backwards as a nation.

So where do I stand on all this?  I stand for Jesus Christ!  I will never waver in my belief in His words.  People can call me intolerant all they want.  I’m not being intolerant because I believe that there is right and wrong.  I believe there are morals, ethical standards, and values that I will teach to my children.  I will raise them by the standards of God’s Word.  As Joshua told the people of Israel, now is the time to make a decision.  You are either for God, or not.  You are either hot or cold.  You are either going to live for Him, or you are going to serve the world and live in Satan’s grip.  I choose Jesus Christ.  “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15b)

My purpose is very clear in a declining and perverse world.  Live out loud and speak up for Jesus Christ.  I will serve Him regardless.  I will not bow to sin, lust, and immorality.  Please understand.  My heart bleeds and breaks for those lost in sin.  For those who have been caught up in the ways of wickedness.  To those who have been deceived by Satan.  There needs to be an understanding of grace and forgiveness that is unencumbered by the thoughts and translations of man.  The unadulterated grace that comes from God alone.  We all need to be forgiven.  We’ve all been forgiven by the blood of Jesus Christ.  Do you want to know what it is?  Do you want to get out from underneath the heap of sin and immorality that you’ve been accustomed too?  There is a way.

There will be some that read this and say that I’m being hateful to the homosexual community.  That I’m being intolerant to those that wish to do and act as they please.  If you feel that is what is being portrayed, I beg you to contact me so we can talk further.  That’s what I find so intriguing.  Some will say, “How dare you!”  When all I’m doing is what those without morals and standards do: proclaim what they believe in and want for society. I don’t hate those that live in a homosexual lifestyle.  I’m not intolerant of those that wish to live free of morals.  My heart is for their salvation in Jesus Christ…period.

So what is the “way of society”?  The funny thing is, America’s immoral, God-hating society was defined thousands of years ago.  Look at the following and tell me this doesn’t define where we are as a nation (keep in mind what we declare as a nation, “In God We Trust”):

“For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.

Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.

And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.” ~ Romans 1:21-25, 28-32

Therefore, in my decision to establish my home and family in service of the Lord, I want to explain how it is that we will strive to live in this world.  Because the fact remains, as much as I don’t like where society is headed, we still live in this world.  We will not hide and run from it.  There are so many aspects of God’s Word that talks about walking in truth, righteousness, and morality.  So, I’ve chosen the following out of the book of Ephesians, chapter 5 as a point of reference (Read it in its entirety here):

Verse 1: Be imitators of God

Verse 2: Walk in love

Verse 3: Sexual immorality and impurity must not be named among you

Verse 4: Let there be thanksgiving

Verse 6: Do not be deceived

Verse 8: Walk as children of light

Verse 10: Discern what is pleasing to the Lord

Verse 11: Expose the works of darkness

Verse 15: Walk not as unwise, but wise

Verse 17: Understand what the will of the Lord is

Verse 18: Be filled with the Spirit

Verse 20: Give thanks always and for everything to God

My prayer is that the true, biblical Church will stand for what is right.  That it will not conform to the thrusts of society.  The Church needs to continue to stand up for what is right and honoring to the Lord, without compromise.

“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.  Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” ~ Romans 12:1-2
