UPDATED: Bird Knocks Out Power To 616 SCE Customers On Santa Rosa Plateau

At approximately 1:12 p.m., power for 369 customers was restored, but at press time another 247 residences are without electricity.

5:53 P.M. UPDATE: Power was restored to the area at approximately 5:40 p.m. Wednesday after a six-hour outage.

ORIGINAL POST: Six-hundred-and-sixteen Southern California Edison customers living on or near the Santa Rosa Plateau, west of Widomar and Murrieta in unincorporated area, were without power Wednesday after a bird flew into the utility's equipment.

According to SCE spokeswoman Susan Cox, the incident occurred around 11:26 a.m.

At approximately 1:12 p.m., power for 369 customers was restored, but at press time another 247 residences are without electricity, Cox said.

There are no estimates on when the remaining customers will have their power restored, she continued. 

The initial outage was bordered by Paseo Montana to the north, Avenida La Cresta to the south, Vista Grande to the east, and Via Calorin to the west.
