Earthquake Near Idyllwild Rattles Parts of Southwest Riverside County

A small earthquake in the San Bernardino National Forest rattled a portion of Riverside County today.

The magnitude-2.9 temblor struck at 6:43 a.m. at a depth of nearly 10 miles, its epicenter 4 miles south of Idyllwild, the U.S. Geological Survey reported, based on a computer-generated report.

Residents in Temecula, Hemet and Anza were among those who reported experiencing the quake, according to results posted on the USGS website.
