Explosions, Not Thunder, Jolting Southwest Riverside County

The noise is coming from Camp Pendleton, as troops train with live fire.

It's been a noisy Wednesday afternoon in Southwest Riverside County as Camp Pendleton continues its live fire training exercises.

According to base officials, troops are firing high explosive munitions into the Whiskey/Zulu Impact areas through 11:59 p.m. Wednesday.

Troops are scheduled to continue the exercises in the same area Thursday and Friday, beginning at 6 a.m. through midnight each day.
