FLOODING ALERT: State Route 74 Closed at Lake Elsinore

Update 3:45 p.m.:  Caltrans officials say that the Ortega Highway, SR 74 between Orange County and Lake Elsinore, is expected to remain closed until tomorrow (Saturday.)

The following is a press release from the city of Lake Elsinore: 

Caltrans is alerting motorists that there is an active storm in the Inland Empire region that will continue through Sunday, March 2. Caltrans will be providing road information throughout today, Friday, February 28. For information after hours or on the weekend, Caltrans recommends signing up for Twitter at "caltrans8" to receive road information. 

As of 9:30 a.m. today, 2/28/14, the following updates have been made about areas in or near Lake Elsinore: 

Freeways are experiencing flooding conditions - reduce your speed and drive with caution. 

SR 74 is closed from Lake Elsinore to the Candy Store for an unknown duration.
