Keeping Up With Fido Can Make Your Heart Healthy

It's not too late to start a healthy lifestyle with your dog at your side.

Although February is coming to a close, it doesn't mean "Healthy Heart Month" has to end. Why not keep the spirit going all year long?

Your dog can be a great exercise companion. Walking Fido can benefit you by keeping you strong, healthy and fit. Walking helps clear your mind from stress and goes a long way toward shedding those unwanted pounds -- off you and your dog!

Walks together can also be a time of bonding with your "best friend," and they provide an opportunity to make new friends -- human and canine -- along the way. Your pooch will enjoy visiting with others of his own kind and will become more socialized and content, and who knows what wonderful connections you might make with fellow dog walkers!

You can also help by donating dog food, cat food, blankets, kitty litter and cash. The shelter depends on the public's generous support.
