Lake Elsinore Car Wash To Benefit Children Of Woman Killed In Crash

According to an event organizer, all proceeds will be donated to the family of Lake Elsinore resident Cinthia Marily Cardozo Madrid, who was killed in a car crash Jan. 6.

A benefit car wash is scheduled Saturday to raise funds for the children of a Lake Elsinore woman killed in a Jan. 6 car crash.

The car wash being held by friends and family of Cinthia Marily Cardozo Madrid will take place Jan. 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the Albertson’s parking lot located at 30901 Riverside Dr. in Lake Elsinore, according to Lake Elsinore resident Ashlee Elizabeth Chavez, 22.

Chavez, who was a friend of Cardozo Madrid, said no prices are set for the car wash; instead, donations in any amount are being accepted. Food items are also being accepted, Chavez said, noting that all proceeds will be donated to the family of Cardozo Madrid, who was killed Jan. 6 after the sedan she was driving went down an embankment along a ramp linking the southbound Long Beach 710 Freeway to westbound Pacific Coast Highway.

Chavez and Cardozo Madrid were neighbors in a Lake Elsinore apartment complex. They met after Chavez moved to the city from Orange County about three years ago.

“She always had a bright smile and she loved cooking,” Chavez said of her friend. “You could always smell something good coming from her apartment.”

Cardozo Madrid had lived in Lake Elsinore for about 13 years, Chavez said.
