To help ensure an easy transition for newly adopted cats and kittens, here are some helpful tips:

  • Bring your new cat or kitten home in a proper carrier so it doesn't escape or get injured.
  • Provide your new kitty with a litter box and place it in a spot that's easy to find. Clay-based litter helps keep the odor down and will encourage the cat to use it.
  • Provide proper nutrition. Full-grown cats need food specially formulated for adult felines. Kittens need food specially formulated for growing kittens. Be sure to provide fresh clean water daily.
  • When introducing felines to children, be sure to remind them they are not toys and to be very soft and kind.
  • You can purchase a bed for your new cat or kitten from your local pet store. They appreciate their own space.
  • Purchase safe toys for your new feline.
  • Get your new animal spayed or neutered!
