Lake Elsinore officials began some of the initial work Friday on the Main Street Paving and Rehabilitation Project.
"This week, the City started its underground work and conduit installation ahead of the much anticipated Main Street repaving and improvement project, which will start early next month," a city announcement stated.
Closures began Friday, affecting southbound traffic on Main. Other short-term closures will happen next week "...in order to efficiently and effectively complete this project," according to the city.
The following streets will be fully closed beginning next week:
2/18 - Tuesday from 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Main St. between Heald & Peck
2/19 - Wednesday from 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Heald between Peck & Graham
2/20 - Thursday from 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Graham to Sulphur
2/21 - Friday from 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Sulphur to Limited
Official work on the paving project is set to start in the beginning of March, at which time more closures may occur.
