Some Lake Elsinore Residents Without Power Due To Crash

A vehicle crash off Nuevo Road knocked out power to to 5,543 Southern California Edison customers in Perris, Lake Elsinore and Menifee.

More than 5,500 Riverside County residents lost power for about an hour and a half this afternoon when a car crashed into a fire hydrant, spilling water onto utility equipment.

The crash occurred around 1:20 p.m. in the 24400 block of Nuevo Road, just off Interstate 215, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

No one was injured, but the ensuing spill reached an underground electrical vault, knocking out power to 5,543 Southern California Edison customers in Perris, Lake Elsinore and Menifee.

Though repairs were not expected to be completed until 5:30 p.m., crews were able to get the lights back on in all locations by 3 p.m., an SCE spokeswoman told City News Service.
