Thunder Coming From Artillery Training

Training hours are from 6 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23, Thursday, Jan. 24 and Friday, Jan. 25, according to an advisory issued by the base.

Noise from artillery fire training at nearby Camp Pendleton may be heard this week, base officials advised.

The training, which involves firing high explosive munitions, is taking place in the Whiskey/Zulu Impact areas, just west of Southwest Riverside County.

Depending on atmospheric conditions, the sound of the explosions may be amplified and heard up to 50 miles away.
