A wind advisory was in effect in Riverside County this morning as gusty northeasterly winds swept the region.
The National Weather Service issued the wind advisory until noon, saying that winds were gusting over 45 miles per hour, mainly through and below passes and canyons.
"Driving will be difficult for high profile vehicles on sections of Interstate 10 and 15, and Highway 60," an NWS advisory said.
Winds were expected to weaken this afternoon but increase again later tonight into Saturday.
The wind advisory was in effect in the Coachella Valley, valley areas around Riverside, the San Jacinto Mountains, and mountain areas in San Bernardino and Orange counties. --City News Service
