Dirty Fun Scheduled In Lake Elsinore This Weekend As Survivor Mud Run Gets Underway

More than 3,000 people are expected to turn out Saturday to test their strength, stamina -- and tolerance for muck -- in the annual "Survivor Mud Run" at Lake Elsinore's Storm Stadium.

Contestants will be offered the chance to compete in 3.3-mile or 9.3- mile races that begin and end at the baseball field, with a minimum of 18 obstacles along the way, according to organizers.

Runners will crawl through muddy tunnels, scale muddy walls and trudge across muddy waterways during the competition.

"It's the toughest run in the area, testing overall strength, stamina and mental determination as runners earn their place in the 'Survivor' world," according to a website promotion.

Contestants wear "race bibs" equipped with transponders that track their time to complete the obstacle course. Top finishers will be awarded trophies, and all participants will get free T-shirts and the opportunity to join the post-race party, which includes beer, food and live music.

Entrance fees are $68 for the 3-mile race and $108 for the 9-mile course. --City News Service
