Wagon Wheel Country Music Fest Cancelled; Ticket Refunds Complete

"Due to differences between Just Cruizin' Productions and Storm Events, Wagon Wheel 2011 will not be a part of our off-season event lineup," said Steve Smaldone, director of media relations for the Storm.

The third annual Wagon Wheel country music concert scheduled at Stadium Nov. 12-13 has been cancelled, but the promoter says all ticket holders have been refunded.

Event promoter Mike Davidson, vice president of Just Cruzin’ Productions, said the economy was mostly to blame for the cancellation.

Davidson said he hopes to pull the event together for 2012, but was doubtful Wagon Wheel would return to Lake Elsinore.

“It definitely won’t be at the stadium again,” he said of the show’s two-year run at The Diamond.

Davidson said he was “not at liberty to discuss” the reasons why The Diamond would not be a 2012 venue contender.

Steve Smaldone, media relations director for the Storm at The Diamond, provided a brief statement regarding the cancellation on behalf of Storm Events staff.

“Due to differences between Just Cruizin’ Productions and Storm Events, Wagon Wheel 2011 will not be a part of our off-season event lineup,” Smaldone said. “We would like to thank Just Cruizin’ for all of their hard work over the last two years in bringing the concert to The Diamond in Lake Elsinore.”

Acts that were being promoted for the 2011 venue included top country music acts Dierks Bentley, Dwight Yoakam and Lee Ann Womack, among others.
