UPDATED: 15 Freeway Crash In Wildomar Leaves 2 Injured

UPDATED AT 12:20 p.m.: A crash on southbound Interstate 15 just north of Clinton Keith in Wildomar has injured two women, and the cause of the collision may have been a tire blowout, according to authorities.

The solo-vehicle crash involving a white Chevy Astro van was reported at approximately 11:11 a.m. Wednesday.

Per witnesses, as the van's driver started to brake, smoke began coming from the left rear tire, said California Highway Patrol Officer Coon.

Both women were transported to an area hospital. Their identities have not been released.

The incident is currently under investigation by the CHP. Coon said the left rear tire on the van was cracked and showed signs of weathering, which could have been crash factors.

Traffic was slow on the southbound side of the freeway through Wildomar as investigators closed lanes.

Coon said the freeway should be completely clear by 12:30 p.m.
