Air Quality In Lake Elsinore Unhealthy, SCAQMD Warns

“People who are unusually sensitive should consider reducing prolonged or heavy exertion,” according to the alert.

South Coast Air Quality Management District has issued an alert warning people of unhealthy air quality in Lake Elsinore.

The agency issued the forecast for Wednesday and Thursday. Pollutants may be a moderate health concern for people who are unusually sensitive to air pollution, the agency is advising.

“People who are unusually sensitive should consider reducing prolonged or heavy exertion,” according to the alert.

Under the Air Quality Index used by SCAQMD, an AQI value of 50 represents good air quality with little potential to affect public health, while an AQI value over 300 represents hazardous air quality. When AQI values reach above 100, air quality is considered to be unhealthy for certain sensitive groups of people. The higher the AQI values climb above 100, increasingly more people may become susceptible to the effects of the unhealthy air, according to the agency.

I think Popeye has a point that the pollution from the trucks decreases our Air Quality. I believe the trucks must have the latest pollution control devices. Who checks?

Popeye has never had a point in my opinion. You Linda, have a point.

It was explained to me that the reason the air quality is bad in LE is because of the Lake and the Mountain ranges, they create a vacum over the Lake and locks in pollutants, thick air sits on top of the water that holds pollutants in, that is why sometimes it rains like crazy here and other times the rain will skirt along the Ortega Mtns and never rain a drop within the City, it depends on if the vacum effect is in place over the Lake. Not sure how true this is but it is what I was told.

Popeye/martha thinks the mines are contributing to the air quality. Martha you forgot the ha ha ha tea baggers portion.
