Explosions, Thunder Coming From Camp Pendleton

The training is expected to last through Friday.

Although troops at Camp Pendleton have been training all week with high explosive munitions, thundering noise is sounding louder Wednesday.

According to base officials, depending on atmospheric conditions the sound of the explosions may be amplified and heard up to 50 miles away.

Below is the Camp Pendleton schedule for high explosives munitions training on the base for the remainder of the week:

 -Mortar Live Fire from 6 a.m. to midnight

Thursday, Apr 26

-Mortar Live Fire from 6 a.m. to midnight

  • Firing High Explosive munitions into the Whiskey/Zulu impact areas on the base.

-Artillery Live Fire from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Firing High Explosive munitions into the Whiskey/Zulu impact areas on the base.

Friday, Apr 27

-Mortar Live Fire from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
