Lake Elsinore Air Quality Forecast To Be ‘Unhealthy’ For Some

"People who are unusually sensitive should consider reducing prolonged or heavy exertion," according to the alert.

Warm temperatures and low wind conditions have prompted an alert for Lake Elsinore from the South Coast Air Quality Management District.

The agency is forecasting for Tuesday unhealthy air quality for sensitive groups. Pollutants may be a moderate health concern for people who are unusually sensitive to air pollution, the agency is advising.

“People who are unusually sensitive should consider reducing prolonged or heavy exertion,” according to the alert.

Under the Air Quality Index used by SCAQMD, an AQI value of 50 represents good air quality with little potential to affect public health, while an AQI value over 300 represents hazardous air quality. When AQI values reach above 100, air quality is considered to be unhealthy for certain sensitive groups of people. The higher the AQI values climb above 100, increasingly more people may become susceptible to the effects of the unhealthy air, according to the agency.

On Tuesday, the AQI in Lake Elsinore is forecast between 100 and 150. Monday's air quality has been moderate.
