Lake Elsinore Air Quality Forecast To Be ‘Unhealthy’ For Some

“People who are unusually sensitive should consider reducing prolonged or heavy exertion,” according to the alert.

Warm temperatures and low wind conditions have prompted an alert for Lake Elsinore from the South Coast Air Quality Management District.

The agency is forecasting for Tuesday unhealthy air quality for sensitive groups. Pollutants may be a moderate health concern for people who are unusually sensitive to air pollution, the agency is advising.

“People who are unusually sensitive should consider reducing prolonged or heavy exertion,” according to the alert.

Under the Air Quality Index used by SCAQMD, an AQI value of 50 represents good air quality with little potential to affect public health, while an AQI value over 300 represents hazardous air quality. When AQI values reach above 100, air quality is considered to be unhealthy for certain sensitive groups of people. The higher the AQI values climb above 100, increasingly more people may become susceptible to the effects of the unhealthy air, according to the agency.

On Tuesday, the AQI in Lake Elsinore is forecast between 100 and 150. Monday's air quality has been moderate.

This is extremely upsetting and disconcerting! It should be legal to beat the shit out of cigerrette smokers who by there habit not only pollute themselves but also pollute the people around them breathing their toxic second hand smoke. Smokers should be required to wear a plastic see through dome around there head that ataches to thier neck creating an air tight seal, so that only they breath thier first and second hand smoke and don't pollute anyone else! Nothing worse than that "Ash Tray Smell" My motto is "Sock A Smoker!" Guess I'll be cancelling that hike I had planned! Ugh!!!

Anthony............really??? like smokers are the only cause for poor air quality, seriously!!!!!!!!! I have a huge problem breathing when the air is like this but I never considered a smoker to be the cause for it or want to "sock a smoker", all air quality contol, green cars and blah, blah, blah aren't going to fix our air, it wasn't like this 20 years ago so people moving here and watering and so on have sure added to it, LE has always had a air quality problem because of the Lake and Mtns, the pollutants get trapped in here with no escape, now you might want to ask Katheryn if all the mining has anything to do with it too!!!!!!!!!!!!!

More than likely has to do with the controlled burns on the plateau. Just last Thursday they turned a beautiful day in the valley into a smokey nightmare for hours.

All extremely valid points to the contributers to the unhealthy air we are forced to breath sometimes! We as a race continue to force the hand of nature and the eco system of this earth. All the Self Sabotaging and not caring is sad to behold in so many! I fore one fight against these oppresive behaviours!

That is the cause, for sure. Why did they have the "controlled" burns in the first place?

"When AQI values reach above 100, air quality is considered to be unhealthy for certain sensitive groups of people." The proper wording should be: When AQI values reach above 100, air quality is unhealthy for everyone. Deceit and lies are part and parcel of SCAQMD. The problem with the SCAQMD is that it is run by highly overpaid bureaucrats and technicians who have low health literacy. They routinely overrule sound medical advice. Why did they allow the "controlled" burns in the first place, especially when there are non air polluting ways to accomplish the same thing? It is important to remember that CARB and SCAQMD are NOT on the side of those who value clean healthy breathing air. Eight out of ten of the most air polluted cities in the country are in California Trusting the SCAQMD to provide healthy breathing air is like trusting a fox to guard the chickens.

The biggest problem of all is morons blowing hundreds of tons of pollutants around with leaf blowers. They are protected and exempt whereas any other form of dust stirred up is a crime. Liberal air quality management 101 :(

The bikes and whatever will be doing their share at the Motorsports Park. And we have to have our vehicles smog tested every 2 years. That makes no sense. Did anyone see the plumes of dust created off Mission Trail across from Sedco when they were clearing the land? It was unbelievable how they got away with that.

Bite your tongue, the AQMD corrupt? LOL I lived where there were two pulp mills polluting a city and the AQMD turned its head despite the citizens concern. When the emissions blew over us we were supposed to report it. One day I stumbled on their office, it was on a hill overlooking the city and pulp mills, duh? We used to call it purple fog. I suspected the head had a Swiss Bank account.
