Mortar, Live-Artillery Fire Expected To Create Noise Locally

The exercises are scheduled from 6 a.m. to midnight each day.

Explosions are expected to be heard locally as live-fire exercises take place at the Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base through March 16.

According to an advisory issued by base officials, troops will conduct training exercises that include firing high-explosive munitions into the Whisky/Zulu impact areas of the base. The exercises include mortar and live-artillery fire.

The exercises are scheduled from 6 a.m. to midnight each day.

Depending on atmospheric conditions, the sound of the explosions may be amplified and heard up to 50 miles away.
