UPDATE: Thunderstorm Warning Canceled

A significant weather advisory forewarning of thunder and rain was issued until 1:45 p.m. Thursday for Southwest Riverside County.

UPDATED at 2:50 p.m. Aug.16: The severe thunderstorm warning for west central Riverside County has been canceled by the National Weather Service.

Some rain was reported in Aguanga, near where the Buck fire is burning.

Showers and thunderstorms were expected to continue throughout Riverside County beyond 4 p.m. today.

ORIGINAL POST Aug. 16: A significant weather advisory was issued until 1:45 p.m. Thursday for Southwest Riverside County.

The National Weather Service advised it was tracking a strong thunderstorm with rain that was 9 miles west of Palomar Mountain and 11 miles southeast of Temecula as of 12:36 p.m.

It was moving west at 5 mph, NWS said.

"Wind gusts up to 50 mph are expected with this storm...along with heavy rain," the warning stated. "If threatening weather approaches your area...take shelter in a sturdy building."

The advisory affects all Riverside County valleys.
