106 New Homes And A Business Expansion Approved For Lake Elsinore

"It's exciting to see the commercial sector growing as well as the residential," Commission Chair Rick Morsch said.

Seems every month brings a green light for more new homes in Lake Elsinore.

During Tuesday night’s Lake Elsinore Planning Commission meeting, commissioners unanimously approved 106 new single-family detached homes in the Summerly residential tract near The Diamond Stadium.

The homes consist of four different one- and two-story models ranging in size from approximately 1,520 to 1,847 square feet.

The commission’s recommendation to approve the project brought forth by Ryland Homes still requires signoff from city council. It’s expected the project will go before council members next month.

Last month, commissioners approved 76 new homes in the Summerly development. The builder on those single-family residences is Meritage Homes.

During Tuesday night’s meeting, the commissioners also unanimously approved the expansion of Thermal Electronics Inc., which has been operating in the city for more than 20 years. The company designs and manufactures cables for aircraft and the defense industry.

Spokesmen for Thermal said Tuesday night the company needs to expand its existing 10,000-square-foot industrial building located at 403 Minthorn Street by an additional 7,500 square feet. Once built out, 13,500 square feet would be used for warehousing and manufacturing, while the remaining space would be used for office.

Like the housing project, the business expansion must also get approval from city council.

According to city documents, the 2.98-acre Thermal site fronts Minthorn and extends back to Collier Avenue, approximately 1,500 feet west of Riley Street.

“It’s exciting to see the commercial sector growing as well as the residential,” Commission Chair Rick Morsch said.
