20,000 People Visit Lake Elsinore As City Continues To Dream Extreme

What's on tap this weekend? The Red, White & Blue 5K/10K Run/Walk at The Diamond Stadium kicks off May 27 at 8:30 a.m., followed by a Memorial Day Service at Elsinore Valley Cemetery starting at 10 a.m.

As Lake Elsinore ramps up for Memorial Day Weekend, city officials are keeping tabs on how many people are turning out to Dream Extreme.

Last weekend, cars, boats and off road races drew more than 20,000 residents and visitors to the city for three major events: the Eibach Honda Car Meet, Boating Demo Days and the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series.

“Lake Elsinore is centrally located, has stunning views and a variety of facilities, making us the go to destination for unique and exciting events like these,” Mayor Bob Magee said. “This was a shining moment for our city as we saw thousands of people travel to our community, shop in our stores and dine in our restaurants.”

The Eibach Honda Car Meet has been held for the last eight years, but last weekend -- for the first time -- the event took place at The Diamond Stadium and brought thousands of car enthusiasts to the city.

The inaugural Boating Demo Days on May 18 was also a first for the city. Hosted at the newly renovated La Laguna Resort and Marina, approximately 1,200 people came out to see more than 50 boats on display.

The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series kicked off its 5th and 6th rounds May 17-19 at Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park and approximately 20,000 spectators were in attendance this year, according to city officials.

The Lucas Oil series will return to Lake Elsinore for the final race in October. Recaps of last weekend's event will be aired on five different television stations starting June 22 at 11 a.m. on CBS, according to the city. To view the full television schedule, visit www.lucasoiloffroad.com.
