Accidents Trigger Traffic Nightmares On The 15 Freeway

Two separate incidents add to freeway trouble through Lake Elsinore.

Two separate incidents on the 15 Freeway tied traffic up through Lake Elsinore Saturday, adding to Southern California's troubles.

A black Ford Ranger pickup went off the right shoulder of the road on northbound Interstate 15 south of Corona Saturday afternoon, taking out a power pole in the process, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported at 3:10 p.m., north of Temescal Canyon Road.

The driver was trapped inside the vehicle and crews from Cal Fire, Riverside County fire and Corona fire were assisting the CHP in the rescue attempt.

Traffic was backed up in both directions on the I-15 and a SigAlert was
called, the CHP said.

Earlier in the day, a Hummer overturned on southbound Interstate 15 in Lake Elsinore, slowing midday traffic, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The accident occurred near Diamond Drive about 11 a.m., according to the CHP.

The Hummer came to rest against the center divider, and traffic backed up to Main Street, according to the CHP. --City News Service and Toni McAllister contributed to this report.

People need to slow down and pay attention, this once empty freeway is now always so crowded and people drive like maniacs on it, cars jetting in and out of traffic traveling at high speeds, it is very dangerous.

People don't need to slow down, you need to speed up. Get with times already. The speed limit should be increased to 80 MPH on all freeways. Don't trip Diana; you don't have a choice but to succumb to the statistics.= The more people there are driving on the road, the more people are going to die on it. It's simple math. You can do everyone a favor and stay out of the fast lane!

Diana, Sorry to say but the one's causing traffic jams are the one's going 55-60mph in the middle to fast lane while they should be in the slow lane. I have seen traffic moving at a good clip, then a mile or so further back, the entire freeway is bumper to bumper all the way across the lanes! Move over to the far right & let people by. The speed limit is 70 people, slower traffic, go to the far right....:O

I agree - also when you are merging onto the freeway do not go 35 miles an hour DO look to the left ....................there are cars coming,Fast, your creeping onto teh freeway with no regard to oncoming cars can cause an accident. ! When you are driving on the freeway be aware of the traffic coming onto from the right and slow or speed up accordingly so people can get on ;) .

They don't need to up the speed limit to 80MPH people are already doing that +, and for those that are in the middle lane talking on your cell phone and texting, hey there is a law for that and in spite of what you may be thinking you can not drive and talk on the phone, you know who you are. And I agree with Janice you're suppose to be doing the speed limit by the time you are at the end of the on ramp, kick it up a notch. And Anthony I always drive the fast lane it is the only safe lane on the freeway, catch me if you can :)
