Fire Near Temescal Canyon Road Held To Five Acres

The fire started in the hills east of Interstate 15 in the vicinity of Park Canyon and Dawson Canyon roads, according to Cal Fire.

UPDATE: A brush fire that broke out east of Temescal Canyon Road today was quickly brought under control, according to Cal Fire.

The fire began in the grassy hills east of Interstate 15 near Temescal Canyon Road about 12:40 p.m. and blackened about five acres, said Jody Hagemann of Cal Fire.

By 1:20 p.m., firefighters had stopped the forward progress of the flames, she said.

More than four dozen firefighters and one helicopter crew responded to the blaze, which started for unknown reasons near the intersection of Park Canyon and Dawson Canyon roads, according to Hagemann.

The fire is under investigation. Crews are expected to stay on scene all afternoon.
