"Please note that temperatures in other areas of the county not included in this heat warning will still have high temperatures in the 90s," according to a Riverside County Department of Public Health news release.

Temperatures have been soaring past 100 degrees for the last two weeks in the desert region, and hovering near the triple-digit mark here at home, according to the National Weather Service.

Lake Elsinore is expected to see the mercury rise to the 97 mark today, with humidity at 43 percent.

County-issued heat advisories are prompted when temperatures are expected to hover in the 90s for three or more days.

During the spells, designated “cool centers'' open countywide, offering residents without air conditioning a place to escape the sizzle and relax with snacks, water and free basic entertainment.

Lake Elsinore features two cool centers: Lakeview Chapel at 32700 Mission Trail and the Lake Elsinore Senior Center at 420 E. Lakeshore Dr.

To avoid heat-related medical emergencies, the Riverside County Department of Public Health advises:

·         Drink water to prevent dehydration

·         Stay indoors and make every attempt to stay cool – close window blinds, use air conditioner, etc.

·         Avoid direct sunlight during the peak hours

·         Visit a mall, library, or restaurant to stay cool

·         Do not leave children, elderly, disabled individuals or pets inside vehicles
