Hundreds Of Anglers Expected On Lake Elsinore This Weekend

The Just for Kids Fishing Derby and the first-ever Dream Extreme Bass Tournament will be taking place.

Hundreds of fishermen, women and children are hoping to land that big one this weekend on Lake Elsinore as two events get underway.

The city-sponsored “Just For Kids Fishing Derby” takes place June 1, from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., on the Lake Elsinore levee.

Kids ages 15 years and younger will be fishing for prizes using their own pole and tackle.

The event is free and so is the parking available in Lot B at The Diamond, 500 Diamond Drive. There will also be limited parking available on the levee for those with disabilities.

In preparation for the event, the lake was stocked May 30 with nearly 500 fish. Click here for more on that story.

Also happening this weekend is the first ever “Dream Extreme Bass Tournament” on Lake Elsinore.

Teams of two will compete June 1-2 and try to win up to $35,000 in prizes during this Lake Elsinore Hotel and Casino-sponsored event.

Space is limited to 200 one- or two-person fishing teams. Entry fee is $100 per team.

Species include Largemouth Bass, Crappie, Catfish and Wiper.
