Sheriff’s Deputy Charged In Tom’s Farms Disturbance

At the time of the incident and investigation, Reggie Alcantar was employed as a correctional deputy with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Charges have been filed against a deputy accused of battery on a 71-year-old security guard at Tom’s Farms in Temescal Valley.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department made the public announcement Wednesday, stating that Reggie Alcantar, 31, was charged May 14 with felony battery and elder abuse.

The charges stem from an April 20 incident at Tom’s. According to Lt. Dan Anne, who is stationed in Lake Elsinore, deputies received a call about a disturbance at the popular attraction located along the 15 Freeway. Through investigation, it was determined Alcantar pushed the security guard to the ground in a parking lot there and the elder man suffered a broken wrist as a result of the fall, according to Anne’s report.

At the time of the incident and investigation, Alcantar was employed as a correctional deputy with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. Alcantar was placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the criminal investigation, Anne reported.

Alcantar was most recently assigned to the Robert Presley Detention Center. He has been employed with the Sheriff's Department since 2006, according to Anne.

There is no record of Alcantar’s arrest in the online Inmate Information System for Riverside County.
