Temperatures To Drop 30 Degrees Below Normal

"A series of cold Pacific storms originating from the Gulf of Alaska will move through Southern California this week," according to the National Weather Service.

Cold fronts moving into the region will see high temperatures dropping to 30 degrees below normal for early October, the National Weather Service is reporting today.

The main cooling trend begins today and will continue through Thursday.

The first storm will move across Southern California on
Tuesday, bringing a chance of rain and gusty onshore winds, the National Weather Service reported. Drizzle and light rain are possible Monday night into Tuesday, giving way to scattered showers Tuesday.

The second and much stronger Pacific storm will move through on Wednesday, bringing periods of moderate to locally heavy rainfall late Wednesday into early Thursday morning, the NWS reported.

Total rainfall from these storms is expected to reach up to 2 inches on coastal mountain slopes, with about one-half to two-thirds inch of rain possible at lower elevations, the NWS reported.

The mountains will see snow from the storms at higher elevations, with levels at between 8,000 to 9,000 feet on Tuesday. During the second storm, snow levels will drop to around 6,500 feet.

Fair and warmer weather is expected to return Friday.
