“Surface high pressure over the great basin and high pressure aloft along the California coast will bring warmer, dry and windy weather through Saturday,” the NWS reported. “While winds and humidities will be sufficient to meet Red Flag criteria Saturday, recent rainfall and the impact on fuels will be a significant mitigating factor.”

Winds are expected to die down Saturday afternoon through Sunday, but the low humidity will remain, the NWS reported.

The agency explained in its statement, “A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur. Listen for later forecasts and possible Red Flag warnings.”
