NAACP President To Address Local Democrats

February is Black History month, and Mary Venerable, president of the Lake Elsinore/Southwest Riverside County Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), will be the guest of honor at the annual Awards Dinner and Black History Month celebration of the Democratic Club of Southwest Riverside County.

The dinner will be held starting at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Harveston Community Center, 40135 Village Road, Temecula. Donation is $25, and will be accepted at the door. For further information, call Kathy Katz at 951-693-2814 or 909-227-1553. Those interested in attending should RSVP no later than Thursday, Feb. 2.

Venerable has been active in the NAACP for many years. Additionally, she is a member of the Citizens’ Advisory Committee of the Riverside County Transportation Commission, and in 2008 was the first Service Officer of the Year for the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE).
