A local resource fair designed to help educate the public about the Affordable Health Care Act -- otherwise known as ObamaCare -- and California's new health insurance program is set for Sept. 25.
The 8th Annual Perris Community Resource Fair will be held at the Perris Valley Family Resource Center, from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Up to 75 non-profit and public agencies are expected to participate this year including the Department of Public Social Services, the Mobile Health Clinic, the Public Health Nursing Program and Workforce Development.
Covered California, the new California agency created to provide affordable medical insurance for families and individuals in response to Health Care Reform, will be there to assist and answer questions.
The day will be filled with free food, music, information, and fun, say event organizers. The purpose of the event is to provide a no-pressure meeting place for the local community "to connect with organizations of their choice, allowing them to discover local resources that they may find helpful in supporting themselves, their children, and their families," according to event organizers.
Many of the vendors provide “freebies” to encourage fair attendees to visit their displays and receive information.
