"This dinner serves folks all over the region. Those who cannot afford a holiday meal, who are alone or working -- including fire, law enforcement and many others -- are welcome."

People working on Christmas or just looking for a hot meal to enjoy will be welcome to it Wednesday in Norco.

Miracle on 6th Street will hold its ninth annual Christmas Dinner Service at Maverick Steakhouse & Saloon, 3841 Hamner Ave.

"Everyone is invited," said Brent Sakamoto, who began organizing the event in 2004. "This dinner serves folks all over the region. Those who cannot afford a holiday meal, who are alone or working -- including fire, law enforcement and many others -- are welcome."

Miracle on 6th Street also provides free Thanksgiving meals every year. The food is donated by stores and restaurants and served by volunteers.

"We have served thousands of folks over the years," Sakamoto said. "It has been a challenge to keep this event going, but thanks to everyone's help, we are continuing and expanding locations."

Miracle on 6th Street gets its name from the location where the Thanksgiving meals are provided -- Silverado Burgers on Sixth Street in Norco.
