AN OPEN LETTER TO THE WILDOMAR HISTORICAL SOCIETY SUBJECT: The Brown House

I am writing this blog on the Patch because I refuse to attend a meeting of the same small group of people that have done very little in the last 7 years to make progress on the “Brown? House”. Thanks to another concerned citizen of the community of Wildomar the “House” has been brought back into the minds of many (thank you Kevin Jon Sax) and a Facebook page was started which has allowed many more to keep up with any progress towards a final goal. In following this page it appears the “the goal is to restore the Brown House to a working farmhouse model and include local artifacts, tools of the trade in a museum setting for educational and interest purposes” per the Wildomar Historical Society back in September. I say its about time.

Now that the one goal has been met its time to move onto the next step, WHERE TO PUT IT.
The longer it takes to decide this the more damage the House will suffer to the point it will end up in someone’s fireplace.
In order to try and push this effort forward I am going to make some suggestions.
1. There are two religious organizations close to Windsong Park that have property with enough room to house this structure, if they would be willing.
2. There is a property directly behind to Windsong Park that the owner might be willing to subdivide for this purpose as the creek separates it in half if a price could be negotiated.
3. There is a parcel of land directly behind Marna O’Brien Park that might be purchased and at 5 acres would be ideal for a farm setting and with City of Wildomar permission to cut a hole in the block wall would be accessible to the public from the park, this property could also house a community garden as well.
4. Donald Graham Elementary School has properties located abutting the freeway that could house this structure.
There maybe many more locations but the momentum was started and it would be ashamed to see this project languish for another 7 years eventually suffering the fate of the Elsinore Princess.
This project is going to require enormous community support which is not going to happen behind closed doors. A site must be chosen and a dollar figure presented to the public for each stage. Site location, Site Prep, Moving Cost, etc. People will not donate without the facts before them.
