Wildomar Undrinkable Water Zone May Soon Get Safe Water Supply

Assemblywoman Melendez on Wildomar Water Issue

For the first time in nearly a decade, about 100 residents in Wildomar may soon have potable drinking water. Due to pump failures and high nitrate levels, the water has been undrinkable. When the pump does work, it only pumps undrinkable water. This has remained a constant nuisance for the residents of Wildomar.

It’s easy to read about in the paper and pass by as a small issue, but take a moment and think about what it would be like if you were one of those 100 residents. Unfortunately, since it was only affecting so few people, it seems as if the residents didn’t get the same kind of attention they would have gotten if they were in a more populated area.

Thankfully that seems to finally be coming to an end. County Supervisor Kevin Jeffries has been instrumental in bringing the Elsinore Valley Water District and the Eastern Municipal Water District together to begin service for this rural area between Wildomar and Menifee.

Problems could begin to alleviate as soon as this year if the state agrees to help foot the bill.

I am thankful for the efforts made by the water districts and encourage them to continue working with the County of Riverside and California Department of Health Services to put this decade long struggle behind the residents of Wildomar.
