Political Candidates' Stewardship: Are You Listening?

The race for the 67th State Assembly seat should not go to Phil Paule, Bob Magee or Melissa Melendez. Only Ken Dickson and William Akana are qualified to graduate to the post.

Do we promote students from grade school who have not turned in all the required assignments?

Do you get to proceed to a four-year university when you have incomplete requirements?

Do you get to get to run in a bigger track field when you are just learning how to walk?

Will your parents allow you to drive their brand new BMW or Jaguar when you are just learning how to drive the decent five-year-old economy car they handed to you?

Where am I going with this?

Will you vote for a candidate who, yes, legitimately, has brownie points in political experience to brag about, yet, if you look closer to the condition of that tiny obligation they are holding, it needs a great amount of attention, not to mention, work.

How do you fix a bigger yard when the smaller yard is germinating with weeds?

How do you make capacious promises to adults when you have not achieved the ones you made to one child?

How do you say you will fix California when your own jurisdiction is pulverized with issues, lawsuits, unaddressed complaints, over-spending and budget deficits?  How do you claim credit to your performance when looking through a magnifying glass that shows negative statistical reports on criminal activities,  poor management decision struggles in budget allocations, and cutting all the basic necessities of public safety while keeping discretionary expenditures intact?

Do I need to keep going?

There is one, among the bunch of these racers, I studied and observed. Only one, if not two, among the stack, do I see the integrity of character and positive results of their actions.

Lt. Col. Ken Dickson, USAF JAG (Ret.) and Lt. Col. William Akana, U.S. marine Corps (Ret.), are the only two candidates I have observed who are very quiet, refusing to berate their opponents, and prudish about their accomplishments.  Both of these men can literally leave their current positions as educators for that much coveted state assembly office in Sacramento without looking over their shoulders – in conscience, that they left their posts in disarray.

The way I see it, only the two Lieutenant Colonels are qualified to graduate to a statewide position, because they have proven their work.

It is all about actions. Not talk. It is all about results. Not personalities.

When you hear someone talking down another person, think twice. If they can spend that time destroying someone else’s character and integrity, what do you think their performance will be when your back is turned, and you are hundreds of miles away from them?

I’m just saying.
