1 Arrest At Lake Elsinore DUI Checkpoint

The checkpoint was located at the intersection of Riverside Drive and Walnut inside city limits and was conducted by the Lake Elsinore Police Department.

Ted Welch, 43, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to a news release from the Lake Elsinore Police Department.

In addition to the one DUI, three other people were arrested for outstanding warrants, according to the news release.

The checkpoint was located at the intersection of Riverside Drive and Walnut inside city limits and was conducted by the Lake Elsinore Police Department.

“The goal of the DUI checkpoint was to remove impaired and suspended drivers from the roadway and raise public awareness of the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol,” the news release read.

A total of 1,176 vehicles passed through the checkpoint. Twelve unlicensed and/or suspended drivers were sent to court and eight vehicles were impounded, according to the news release.

More checkpoints are scheduled this year, but dates have not been announced.

The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, according to the news release.
