A Wildomar man is behind bars today following an alleged
stabbing that following a bout of drinking and a fight.
Brian Middleton, 50, was arrested Thursday around 8 p.m. after police were called to the 32400 block of Penrose Street in Wildomar.
According to a news release from the Wildomar Police Department, there were several people drinking alcohol at a home in that neighborhood when a fight erupted between two who lived there.
“The argument turned violent, and one subject stabbed another subject multiple times,” the release read.
The alleged stabber, who was later identified as Middleton, hid inside the home, according to police.
“Officers set up a perimeter and made multiple announcements for the suspect to surrender to authorities, but the suspect refused to exit the home,” the release stated.
A police dog was eventually used to ferret out Middleton, who was allegedly hiding in a back room.
“The suspect still refused to surrender and was bitten by the police service dog,” the news release continued.
Middleton was taken into custody without further incident, according to police.
The stabbing victim was transported to a nearby hospital and is expected to survive the injuries, the news release stated. That person’s identity is not being released by police.
According to jail records, Middleton was booked into Southwest Detention Center on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
He is due in court Aug. 27 and is being held on $25,000 bail.
