2 Lake Elsinore Teens Accused Of Sexually Assaulting 14-Year-Old Girl

Two teenagers from Lake Elsinore are being accused by police of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl this past May.

Tyler Romero, 18, and Michael Petler, 19, were arrested Sept. 18 on suspicion of sexual assault, according to a news release from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station.

The investigation into their arrests began July 1 and was handed to detectives at the station, according to the report.

“The investigation revealed that the 14-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in the area of Grand Avenue and Adelfa Street [in] Lakeland Village after leaving a party in May of 2013,” the news release read. “The female juvenile was given alcohol while at the party by one adult male and was later sexually assaulted by two adult males.”

According to jail records, Romero remains in custody on suspicion of seven felony sexual assault charges including forced penetration and oral copulation. He is being held in lieu of $165,000 at Southwest Detention Center and is due in court Sept. 26, the records show.

Romero was arrested on Sept. 18 at 9:30 a.m. in the 17600 block of Nelson Avenue in Lake Elsinore, according to the records.

Petler is being held on the same charges as Romero and the same bond amount. He is also due in court Sept. 26, the records show. He was arrested at 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 18 at the Jack in the Box located on Riverside Drive in Lake Elsinore, according to the records.
