3 Children Escape Serious Injury in Rollover Crash on I-15

The driver had minor injuries and three children are taken to a hospital as a precaution.

A rollover crash on northbound Interstate 15 just south of Indian Truck Trail Saturday afternoon sent a woman to a hospital with minor injuries. Three children were also taken to a hospital as a precautionary measure, according to a California Highway Patrol officer on the scene.

The woman was driving a red Toyota Camry just after 2 p.m. when she lost control of the car and rolled from the number three lane onto the right shoulder, where the car landed on its roof.

Rescue crews were able to get everybody out of the car without cutting into the car with the Jaws of Life.

The CHP is investigating the cause of the crash.

I'm so glad they are OK. When they say someone lost control it makes me wonder if they were speeding or texting or under the influence... I suppose she could have swerved to miss an animal or was cut off. For her kids' sake I pray she wasnt the one that caused this accident.

I would agree with what you said.. probably texting or something she shouldn't have been doing but ever so grateful they are all ok. luckily no one else was involved and injured. i hope we findout that maybe a tire blew and it was not really her fault.but if she were texting then i hope they cahrge her with reckless indangerment or something because she was responisble for 3 childrens lives.

Not sure if this is texting related. I think that phones should be made where the text is disabled if the phone is moving. Its the only way to fix the issue.

I agree... I see people on their phones all the time.. and you can tell the ones who are texting, they drive extra slow and their heads are down , only looking up briefly.

I have on a few occasions simply lost control of my car while not doing any of those things. People are too quick to assume that others were doing something wrong when just might have been a freak accident

Glad the children are alright. No matter what the cause of this accident, I bet those kids will always remember this and when they get their licenses, become one of the safest drivers on the road.

99% of the time I see someone making some bonehead moves while driving, when I glance over at them, they are generally texting or talking (no hands free) Glad the kids are OK........

The trouble is, this eliminates that mode of communicaton for anyone who is on a train, or a passenger in a car or bus. That's why phone manufacturers have yet to do it, as there are many legitimate scenerios where people will be moving at a decent speed but still be safe to use their phone. You can't punish everyone for the actions of some.

Happy to hear that the children are unharmed. Sometimes when you hit a patch of gravel, theres nothing you can do to correct it, except hold on & ride it out. No matter what the accident reason was, best of luck for all of your futures! }~)

Under development is a device that will block all cell phone frequencies along freeways other than calls for 911. Since all smartphones by law have E911 installed on them, closing the transmission band for non 911 calls/text would be easier. If this crash was a result of her using her phone while driving, the technology will have to be used to force people not to use phones while driving.

Just saying, the children could have even been the cause. Statistically kids are 7 times more distracting than a cellphone call and 4 times more distracting than texting. Jumping to conclusions and automatically blaming the mother or whoever the woman was for negligence is a little uncalled for. Thank God that everyone was ok though!
