Alleged Burglar Swims Away From Cops, Caught Anyway

Ryan Patrick Harper, 29, of Canyon Lake, was booked into the Southwest Detention Center on suspicion of residential burglary, possession of stolen property and other charges.

A man suspected of burglarizing a home, then swimming away from sheriff's
deputies was later collared while trying to pawn the stuff, sheriff's officials said
Saturday.

Ryan Harper, 29, of Canyon Lake, was booked into the Southwest Detention Center on suspicion of residential burglary, possession of stolen property and probation violation.

He remained behind bars in lieu of $35,000, pending arraignment in Riverside Monday, according to sheriff's jail records.

Deputies were sent Thursday to a burglary in progress in the 22200 block of
Whirlaway Court but Harper allegedly fled, a sheriff's sergeant said.

A check of local pawn shops led investigators to a Lake Elsinore pawn shop,  where Harper was found, the sergeant said.

Did he swim to the pawn shop with all his goodies? I don't get it?
