UPDATE: Alleged Robbery Suspect Stabbed In Wildomar Identified

The stabbing occurred in the residential 21000 block of Walnut Street in Wildomar.

5/12 UPDATE: A suspect who was stabbed during an attempted robbery in Wildomar has been identified.

Rocky Asbury, 27, of Wildomar suffered multiple stab wounds during an alleged robbery and subsequent altercation in the 21000 block of Walnut Street in Wildomar. 

According to a Wildomar Police Department news release, "the investigation revealed that Asbury had an argument at the location with the victim. Asbury demanded the victim’s belongings and began fighting with him. The victim produced a knife and stabbed Asbury in self defense. Asbury went into his residence and retrieved a baseball bat and broke several windows in the victim’s vehicle as he attempted to leave the scene. The victim was able to leave the scene in the vandalized vehicle and was located at Canyon Hills Drive and Railroad Canyon Road (in) Lake Elsinore."

Asbury was taken to a nearby hospital for his wounds and will be booked for robbery and a parole violation.

5/11 ORIGINAL POST: A man suspected of attempted robbery was stabbed by his victim Wednesday on Walnut Street in Wildomar.

The stabbing in the 21000 residential block of Walnut Street in Wildomar occurred some time around 5:30 p.m. after an altercation broke out between the suspect and the victim, said Lt. Mathieu Burden of the Wildomar Police Department.

According to the lieutenant, the victim used a knife to defend himself after the suspect tried to rob him.

"The suspect was stabbed several times in the upper torso," Lt. Burden said, but is expected to survive. He was transported to a local hospital.

"He will be booked tonight," the lieutenant added.

The victim left the scene, but his vehicle -- a white Honda -- was later located on Canyon Hills Road at Railroad Canyon Road in Lake Elsinore. The victim was located and questioned, but had not been charged with any crime at press time.

The names of the suspect and victim had not been released at press time.
