Attack In Canyon Lake Leads To 3 Arrests

Mizell Daniels, 19, of Canyon Lake, and Matthew Jeremy Abbott, 18, of Ontario were arrested in the incident, along with one juvenile.

Two men and one juvenile were arrested Sunday night following an alleged attack in Canyon Lake.

According to a news release from the Canyon Lake Police Department, Mizell Daniels, 19, of Canyon Lake, and Matthew Jeremy Abbott, 18, of Ontario were arrested in the incident along with a juvenile whose identity is being withheld due to age.

The alleged attack was reported around 5:20 p.m. Sunday in the 2200 block of Village Way Drive in Canyon Lake.

“Witnesses reported seeing the suspects punching and hitting the male victim with metal bars,” the news release read.

The suspects fled on foot but through witness interviews deputies were able to track them down, according to the news release.

“The victim was treated by paramedics at the location and sought medical treatment on his own at a local hospital,” the news release continued.

According to police, the suspects were booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

It’s not clear what led to the attack. The victim’s identity has not been released by police, and his current condition is unknown.
