Autopsy On Former Lake Elsinore City Councilman Scheduled Today; Homicide Investigation Continues

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department has not announced any arrests in the case, and it has not indicated that it's seeking suspects.

Detectives remain tight-lipped about a homicide investigation that continues in Lake Elsinore.

The Riverside County Coroner’s Office is scheduled to perform an autopsy today on the body of former Lake Elsinore City Councilman George Alongi, according to Sgt. Jeff Buompensiero of the sheriff’s department.

Alongi, 77, was pronounced dead Friday after his body was found at his residence located in the 1000 block of Dolly Way in Lake Elsinore. Click here to read what Alongi’s neighbors had to say about the investigation scene.

Foul play is suspected in the case. Alongi suffered “traumatic injury to his body,” the sergeant said.

Buompensiero did not disclose who discovered Alongi or how long he had been dead, and he declined to speculate on a cause of death.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department has not announced any arrests in the case, although unconfirmed reports indicate a male subject was taken into custody.

The sergeant did not indicate that suspects were currently being sought in the case, but as in all crime cases he did request that citizens who may have information concerning the investigation contact law enforcement.
