Border Patrol Saves Life Of Stricken Mexican National

The following is a news release from the U.S. Border Patrol:

On Sunday, June 2, at approximately 8 a.m., Border Patrol agents assigned to the Boulevard Station arrested four individuals illegally present in the U.S. near the town of Boulevard.  The group reported to agents that they had encountered a female Mexican national approximately three hours earlier who was in the desert and in physical distress.
 
Boulevard Border Patrol agents immediately initiated a search operation to render aid.  A Border Patrol Search, Trauma, and Rescue (BORSTAR) team was activated and requested support from San Diego County Aerial Support to Regional Enforcement Agencies (ASTREA).  Agents tracked the woman’s footprints and provided coordinates to ASTREA.  At approximately 9:30 a.m., the ASTREA air team found the woman and directed agents to her location.  The 32-year old woman was having difficulty breathing.  The woman was quickly transported by air to rendezvous with California Department of Forestry (CDF) firefighters and BORSTAR advanced emergency medical technicians for evaluation.  CDF and BORSTAR personnel were able to provide immediate interventions that improved the condition of the victim before she was transferred by Mercy Air to a hospital in El Centro.
 
The U.S. Border Patrol is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of those in distress in the border region.  Since October 1, 2011, Border Patrol agents have rescued 27 people in the San Diego Sector.
